Area 51 is about as dumb as it gets here in Canada. He’s been run off pretty much every team’s boards and now Ricky Foley is leaving BC Lions. The latter is sad in some ways as some of us always like to respect players and especially guys like Foley who have some class – something that’s missing in his relative.

We should be happy that we have top QBs in this league you clown.

Not quite right. Wpg scored 554 points but the offence only scored 480 – still 2nd best. But the net offence was 7th in the CFL & benefitted greatly by turnovers created as the Bombers had 166 pts off turnovers. But Nichols was 26/78 on throws of 20+ yards. Only Collaros was worse. He had the lowest avg gain/completion which backs up Area 51 that it was a pop gun offence. Need further proof – 128 targets to one player, Harris. If you take his receiving yards, subtract his YAC & divide that by his 105 catches, the average throw to Harris in the air before his extra yards was less than 2 yards. In other words Nichols targeted Harris 7 times/game on average & most of these were dump passes behind the line of scrimmage or just past the line of scrimmage. The Bombers had the fewest big passing plays in the league, small wonder when you look at his stats for completions. LaPolice plays to Nichols strengths which is a short passing game. Nothing to be embarrassed about – it works. But he has an average arm.

So he’s lost two playoff games and that’s your argument? Hmm how many playoff games have Reilly, Ray, Mitchell…..you knowno what let’s just say every quarterback in the CFL…how many playoff games have they lost?
Nichols is a good QB. Hes a leader. His teammates have confidence in him. He may or may not win us a cup. But I think is is definitely capable of it. I have no issues with him as our QB! I think most knowledgeable fans would agree!

If you’re happy to just get into the playoffs and be one-and-done, then Nichols is a serviceable QB.

But if your standards and expectations are a bit higher and you want to actually have a realistic hope of a Grey Cup, then you’re going to need a competent starting QB instead of a scrub like Nichols.

I’m telling you this for your own benefit, Bomber Fan. O’Shea is my favourite coach in the league and I’d love to see him do the unthinkable and win a championship in Winnipeg. But until his GM finally gets rid of Matt Nichols, O’Shea is bringing a knife to a gun fight.
