The 28-year-old signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Argonauts in February 2020 but never dressed for the team due to the cancellation of the CFL season.
Ackie started ten games with Montreal at weak-side linebacker in 2019, recording 38 defensive tackles. He was drafted by the team in the first round of the 2015 CFL draft.
The Wilfrid Laurier product has recorded 170 total tackles, four forced fumbles, two sacks, and two interceptions in 62 career games.
