The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have re-signed star kick returner Janarion Grant to a one-year extension, per source. He was set to become a free agent on February 9.

The 27-year-old had a spectacular season in 2019, returning three punts for touchdowns in just eleven regular season games. He also had a 32-yard return in the Grey Cup, almost breaking it for a touchdown.

“Retirement has brought many welcome changes,” said recently-retired punter Rob Maver. “One of them is no longer punting to Janarion Grant.”

The Rutgers product returned 41 punts in 2019 for an average of 14.4 yards and 25 kickoffs for an average of 24 yards. He also returned one missed field goal for 61 yards in Week 20 against the Calgary Stampeders.

Grant will look to build on those numbers in 2021 when he returns to Winnipeg.
