Canadian RB Shaquille Murray-Lawrence wins gold in four-man bobsled at Europe Cup

Murray-Lawrence and his teammates Christopher Spring, Mark Mlakar, and Mike Evelyn captured gold in the four-man bobsleigh at the European Cup on Saturday.

The Canadians finished their first run with a time of 55.05 and their second run with a time of 55.03. Their combined total of 1:50.08 was enough to edge out the Germans, who won silver with a time of 1:50.10.

Murray-Lawrence was a third-round draft choice of the B.C. Lions in 2015 out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He played three seasons with the team, recording 47 carries for 148 yards and three touchdowns along with 60 kickoff returns.

The 27-year-old spent the past two seasons split between the Montreal Alouettes and Saskatchewan Roughriders. He is currently a free agent.

Compact, fast, and explosive, Murray-Lawrence has the optimal build and skill set for bobsledder. He and his teammates proved it this weekend, capturing gold for his country.
