Seattle Seahawks re-sign veteran Canadian tight end Luke Willson

Willson spent his first five seasons in Seattle before leaving in free agency in 2018. He returned to Seattle last season following a trade that sent tight end Nick Vannett to Pittsburgh, then re-signed as a free agent in April.

He appeared in five games for the Seahawks this season before being released after rookie tight end Colby Parkinson was activated off the non-football injury list. Willson played three games with the Baltimore Ravens before they let him go earlier this month. After releasing Willson, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll made it clear the team was open to a reunion.

Willson has appeared in 85 games for the Seahawks over seven seasons, starting 44 with 97 catches for 1,208 yards and 11 touchdowns while playing on two Super Bowl teams. The Seahawks drafted the Rice University product in the fifth round, 15th overall in 2013. A year earlier the Toronto Argonauts picked Wilson in the fifth round, 32nd overall during the CFL draft.

He caught the most famous two-point conversion in team history, a catch that gave the Seahawks a three-point lead late in their NFC Championship Game victory over the Packers. Willson has 13 catches for 154 yards and one score in the playoffs, including two receptions when Seattle routed Denver in Super Bowl XLVIII.

In addition to providing depth at tight end, Willson has been a strong special teams player throughout his career.
