Saskatchewan Roughriders re-sign Canadian defensive tackle Charbel Dabire

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have re-signed a key depth piece along the defensive line.

Charbel Dabire was inked to a one-year contract extension on Tuesday. He was set to become a free agent in February 2021.

The six-foot-one, 300-pound defensive tackle was a fifth-round pick in the 2019 CFL Draft. He played eleven games as a rookie in 2019, making one start and recording seven total tackles and one sack.

Dabire was a key re-signing for Saskatchewan following the release of local product Zack Evans. With 33-year-old Makana Henry now set to start at defensive tackle, Dabire should serve as his primary backup.

Raised in Toronto, Dabire attended the New Mexico Military Institute before transferring to Wagner. He served as a team captain during his senior season and attended mini-camp with the New York Giants prior to signing with the Riders.

Saskatchewan also announced the re-signing of Canadian linebacker Nakas Onyeka, which was reported this past weekend.
