Toronto Argonauts sign former Florida State, NFL running back Karlos Williams to contract extension

The Toronto Argonauts have extended the contract of American running back Karlos Williams.

Williams was a fifth-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in the 2015 NFL Draft. He recorded 93 carries for 517 yards and seven touchdowns in eleven games with team while also adding 11 receptions for 96 yards and two scores.

The six-foot-one, 230-pound ball carrier was released in August 2016 and later suspended from the NFL for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Williams signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers in October 2016 but faced two subsequent suspensions for violating the NFL’s Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse. He was reinstated by the league in February 2019 and signed with the Argonauts in November of the same year.

The 27-year-old recorded 241 carries at Florida State for 1,419 yards and 22 touchdowns, winning a National Championship in 2013.

The Argos also extended the contracts of American defensive back Travis Lee and American receiver Joel Blumenthal.
