Saints’ Canadian DL David Onyemata intercepts Tom Brady on Sunday Night Football

Canadian defensive lineman David Onyemata is proof big men can catch.

The University of Manitoba product caught a Tom Brady pass that was knocked around by his fellow Saints defensive linemen for his first career interception. It led to a touchdown for the visitors.

The 27-year-old signed a three-year extension with New Orleans in March worth $27-million USD. Onyemata has lived up to the deal thus far. Entering the game on Sunday Night football, Onyemata had 18 tackles, five quarterback hits, four tackles for loss and three sacks in six games.

The native of Lagos, Nigeria was a fourth-round selection of the Saints in 2016 out of the U Sports football. He has recorded 141 total tackles, 31 quarterback hits, 15 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, three knockdowns, and one forced fumble in 69 career NFL games.

Onyemata went from never watching a football game to earning millions of dollars playing defensive line in the NFL.
