Bengals elevate former Winnipeg Blue Bombers’ DB Winston Rose to active roster

The CFL’s interceptions leader from 2019 has been promoted to an active NFL roster.

Winston Rose has been elevated from the practice roster by the Cincinnati Bengals ahead of tomorrow’s game against the Cleveland Browns. The 26-year-old has been on the practice roster since he was waived at the end of training camp.

Rose came to the CFL in 2016 as a member of the Argonauts before stops in Ottawa (2017), B.C. (2018), and Winnipeg (2019). He is coming off a career-year with the Blue Bombers during which he recorded 58 tackles and nine interceptions, was named a league all-star and won a Grey Cup.

The product of New Mexico State made an early impression in Cincinnati with defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo telling the media, “Don’t sleep on Winston Rose.”

The six-foot, 180-pound cornerback had brief stints with the Rams and Colts before coming to the CFL. Tomorrow will be his first chance to dress for an NFL regular season game.

The Browns (4-2) and Bengals (1-4-1) kickoff tomorrow at 12:00 p.m. ET.
