Ticats all-star DB Delvin Breaux undergoes thumb surgery

Hamilton Tiger-Cats defensive back Delvin Breaux underwent surgery on his right thumb Thursday.

Breaux played in 10 games during the regular season in 2019, making 26 tackles, one interception and forcing one fumble. The 30-year-old was a key member of the stingiest defence in the CFL, Hamilton gave up a league-low 344 points as the Ticats produced a franchise-best single-season record at 15-3.

The six-foot-one, 210-pound cover man suited up in the East Final victory over Edmonton and Grey Cup loss against Winnipeg. It’s easy to see the bump on Breaux’s thumb which he wanted to have fixed. Despite the setback, Breaux was in good spirits after the procedure.

The two-time CFL all-star is the league’s highest paid defensive back, according to 3DownNation insider Justin Dunk earning approximately $200,000 per season on his current deal which runs through the 2021 season.

Breaux has spent his entire CFL career playing for Hamilton and if there is a season in 2020 he would be 100 percent and ready to play.
