Marcel Bellefeuille among candidates who interviewed for University of Ottawa head coach job: report

The University of Ottawa has seemingly narrowed down their list of head coach candidates.

The most intriguing name is Marcel Bellefeuille who currently is employed by the Montreal Alouettes as their offensive line coach. Bellefeuille returned to the Als after previously coaching the running backs and receivers, before being named offensive coordinator for the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Last season Bellefeuille was a scout for the Edmonton Eskimos. He has 16 years of coaching experience in the CFL. In 2018, the 54-year-old was the offensive coordinator with the Queen’s University Gaels.

Bellefeuille was the head coach of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats from 2008-2011, the Ticats were 27-35 with him at the helm. He has since been with multiple CFL teams, serving as the offensive coordinator in Winnipeg (2013-2015) and receivers coach in B.C. (2016-2017).

The Ottawa, ON native started his coaching career in the CFL with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2001 before being named the team’s offensive coordinator from 2003 to 2005. The bilingual coach started his U Sports coaching career with the University of Ottawa and led the Gee-Gees to a Vanier Cup title in 2000.
