Stampeders sign former NFL defensive back Ramon Richards

The Calgary Stampeders have signed former NFL defensive back Ramon Richards.

Richards signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted NFL free agent in 2018 and attended training camps in 2018 and 2019. He played in eight pre-season games registering 11 tackles, defending two passes and intercepting another.

In the NCAA, Richards played 51 games over four seasons at Oklahoma State University, seeing action at both cornerback and safety. He recorded 183 career tackles including 10.5 tackles for loss and made 10 interceptions including two that were returned for touchdowns. The five-foot-11, 188-pounder added one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery and 23 pass breakups.

The 24-year-old is a two-time winner of the OK State Cowboys’ Vernon Grant Award for outstanding leadership, spirit and enthusiasm.
