The Edmonton Eskimos have hired Bobby Merritt as the team’s assistant general manager, per sources.

Merritt was originally hired by the Esks as director of scouting in 2018.

His first role in the CFL came as a regional scout for the Ottawa Redblacks in 2017. That’s the connection with current general manager Brock Sunderland who was an assistant general manager in the nation’s capital prior to be hired by Edmonton.

At that point, the University of Tennessee brought him in as the director of football recruiting. Merritt worked for the University of Houston prior to joining the Redblacks.

Merritt has played an integral role in the Eskimos preparations for the 2020 CFL draft.
