Canadian receiver Chase Claypool has been fielding calls from NFL teams since blowing up the combine in late February.

Claypool has been in touch with a handful of franchises specifically, reports Postmedia’s John Kryk.

Such teams included the New York Giants, New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders, Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots.

Claypool said he worked out for the Bills in that short two-week window “before everything got crazy just after the combine.”

That was in reference to the coronavirus crisis which shutdown NFL facilities and prevented Claypool from performing at the University of Notre Dame pro day. Fortunately for Abbotsford, B.C. native, he displayed his unique combination of size and athleticism for NFL talent evaluators to see at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

At six-foot-four, 238 pounds Claypool ran an official 40 time of 4.42 seconds, recorded a 40.5-inch vertical leap and 10-foot, six-inch broad jump. There has only been one other performance like it in NFL Combine history: Calvin Johnson.

Megatron dominated the NFL during his nine-year career, catching 731 passes for 11,619 and 83 touchdowns – averaging nearing 1,300 yards per season. The Canadian version wants to convert the physical testing numbers into production the way Johnson did.

Following a strong senior season with the Fighting Irish, 59 catches for 891 yards and 12 touchdowns, Claypool could become the first Canadian picked in the first round since 2011.
