The XFL will allow players to sign with other pro leagues in short order.
The #XFL just informed its players they will be free to sign with #NFL or #CFL teams on March 23 upon execution of an #XFL Notice of Contract Termination

Players will be able to ink deals with NFL or CFL teams on Monday, March 23. Originally the agreements with XFL teams were scheduled to run through May 31. The XFL kicked off in February and played five weeks of a planned 10-week schedule until the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.
If #NFL or #CFL teams conduct tryouts in April or May 2020, #XFL players will be permitted to participate while remaining under contract with the #XFL. To do that, #XFL players must execute a Waiver and Release Form to participate in any #NFL or #CFL tryout.

Former Hamilton Tiger-Cats and current Houston head coach June Jones had his Roughnecks team atop the XFL standings with a 5-0 record. A key part of the Roughnecks’ success was the stellar play of quarterback P.J. Walker — the Ottawa Redblacks own his CFL negotiation list rights.
If an #XFL player requests to be released from his contract to play for any other professional sports league, the #XFL league will approve his release upon execution of the Notice of Contract Termination. #NFL

Players who played well such as Walker could be sought by NFL or CFL franchises.
