Last August, Mitchell made five catches for 32 yards in the Bucs’ first pre-season game against the Pittsburgh Steelers prior to suffering a torn left Achilles tendon, which ended his year.
Mitchell was released by the Arizona Cardinals on May 10, 2019 after signing a futures contract in January. Less than a week later he found a new NFL team. The 27-year-old worked out for the Cardinals, Detroit Lions, New York Jets and New York Giants in December. He went unselected in the 2015 NFL draft.
Mitchell had his best CFL season in 2018 playing 11 games recording 60 catches for 867 yards and three touchdowns. Over three seasons in Edmonton, Mitchell made 97 receptions for 1,418 yards and six touchdowns.
