Alouettes sign quarterback Darius-James Peterson

The Montreal Alouettes have signed American quarterback Darius-James Peterson.

The five-foot-11, 190-pound Peterson played four years for the College of Idaho Yotes, where he completed 461 passes for 6,096 yards and 49 touchdowns. The dual-threat QB also collected 3,413 rushing yards for 46 majors.

In 2019, the 22-year-old was selected as the Frontier Conference’s Offensive Player of the Year. He established a school record with 2,423 passing yards and tied the school’s touchdown passing mark with 21.

A 2016 graduate of Marin Catholic High in California, Peterson had a record-setting prep career, combining for 7,835 total yards and 97 touchdowns; he was the 2014 and 2015 Marin County Athletic League and San Francisco Chronicle North Coast Section Player of the Year; led his team to the 2015 North Coast Section Division IV championship and a trip to the California State Championship Bowl Series – earning All-State honours.

Peterson joins quarterbacks Vernon Adams Jr., Matthew Shiltz and Canadian Hugo Richard currently on the Alouettes roster.
