Redblacks release former first-round pick DL Julien Laurent

The Ottawa Redblacks have cut a former first-round CFL draft pick.

Julien Laurent was released by the club after spending most of the 2019 season on Ottawa’s practice roster. He dressed for the final game of the year, though he did not record a statistic.

The six-foot-four, 295-pounder was a first-round pick of the B.C. Lions in 2018. He appeared in seven games as a rookie, recording two tackles. Laurent was released prior to the 2019 season as part of the team’s coaching change on defence.
