The New York Jets have signed free agent safety Anthony Cioffi.

Cioffi worked out for the Jets and signed the same day. He’s a New Jersey resident who inks a deal with the Jets by way of the CFL.

The 25-year-old Cioffi spent the previous two seasons with Ottawa. As a linebacker and defensive back with the Redblacks, he totalled 97 tackles, two interceptions, three forced fumbles, a fumble-recovery touchdown in 2018 and four sacks.

The Springfield, New Jersey native originally signed with Oakland as an undrafted free agent out of Rutgers University, where he was a four-year starter and a teammate of current Jets cornerback Bless Austin. In the Raiders’ 2017 pre-season he had six tackles and a forced fumble in four games, including a start in the pre-season finale, then was a final cut in September.

Cioffi has earned a contract with his hometown NFL team.
