The Edmonton Eskimos have signed Canadian defensive back Jermaine Gabriel to a one-year contract for the 2020 season, per sources.

Gabriel is an experienced starter in the secondary. He was drafted by the Toronto Argos in the second round, 17th overall during the 2013 CFL draft while current Esks head coach Scott Milanovich held the same position with the double blue.

The 29-year-old played the first seven seasons of his CFL career in The Six. He’s recorded 239 tackles, 37 special teams stops, seven sacks, forced four fumbles, nabbed two interceptions and scored one defensive touchdown through 95 games. Gabriel won a Grey Cup with the Argos in 2017.
