Eskimos extend West Division all-star defensive lineman Mike Moore

The Edmonton Eskimos have signed defensive tackle Mike Moore to a two-year contract extension through the 2021 season, per sources.

Moore was scheduled to be a free agent on February 11. He was a West Division all-star after notching single-season career-bests with 23 tackles and nine sacks during the 2019 campaign, his fourth year in the three-down league.

The 26-year-old recorded 108 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, five pass knock downs, four fumble recoveries and forced three fumbles while playing in the NCAA for the Cavaliers. After going unselected in the 2016 NFL draft, Moore was invited to the Philadelphia Eagles rookie mini-camp, but he was not offered a contract.

Moore drew NFL interest in December and worked out for the Eagles, Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions and Los Angeles Chargers.

The six-foot-four, 269-pound University of Virginia product entered the CFL in 2016 with the Ottawa Redblacks. Moore has played 37 games CFL games, recording 50 tackles, 15 sacks and one forced fumble.
