The Blue Bombers have made a move to shore up the team’s secondary.

Nick Taylor has re-signed with the team on a one-year contract extension. The 31-year-old was set to become a free agent next month.

Taylor joined Winnipeg’s practice roster in August before making his regular season debut in October. He won the starting job at field-side halfback, recording 12 tackles and one pick-six in seven starts including playoffs.

The defensive back suited up for three games with the Eskimos in 2019 prior to his release and had previously been a member of the Ottawa Redblacks (2016-2017).

Winnipeg lost two of its starting defensive backs — cornerback Winston Rose and halfback Marcus Sayles — to the NFL this winter, which makes the retention of Taylor all the more critical.
