The Ottawa Redblacks have signed quarterback Kevin Anderson.

Anderson was signed by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in late August following the injury to starter Matt Nichols. Winnipeg had an opening on the roster for a QB because Nichols suffered a shoulder setback and landed on the six-game injured list.

There was prior knowledge of Winnipeg’s playbook with Paul LaPolice as offensive coordinator because Anderson was at Bombers’ rookie camp. He did not return to Winnipeg following the Bombers’ bye week and September, which led to him being released.

Anderson played at Fordham University for four seasons, throwing for 7,663 yards, completing 63.6 of his attempts with 73 touchdowns against 18 interceptions in 33 games. He spent time with the Alliance of American Football’s Orlando Apollos prior to the league suspending operations.

LaPolice has been installed as the head coach in the nation’s capital and due to Anderson’s knowledge of the offence he’ll get another CFL shot. Anderson joins Dominique Davis, Will Arndt and Ross Comis as quarterbacks currently under contract for the 2020 season in Ottawa.
