The B.C. Lions have inexplicably let director of communications Jamie Cartmell go.
Stunned & extremely disappointed by the BCLions decision to let go of longtime media relations guy extraordinaire @SweetJimmyC . Jamie was the standard by which the position was measured; he will be sorely missed.

The 2019 season marked his 14th year with the Lions and 19th season in the Canadian Football League after spending four seasons with the Edmonton Eskimos (2002-2005). He was the longest-serving communications executive in team history as well as the CFL’s most senior communications professional.
From snapping balls to me as a tryout player at a free agent workout to organizing a flattering retirement send off 10 years later – and every media request in between. Thanks @SweetJimmyC for your friendship and years of service to the Lions and the CFL. Much love always! pic.twitter.com/4WXGiPsTeC

As a member of the club’s senior management team, Cartmell provided strategic communications expertise to the club while also serving as the first point of contact for all members of the media. He was also responsible for publications such as the club’s media guide, training camp guide, season summary, game notes and media releases and wrote for the Lions’ website and game day program.
Extremely disappointed to learn of @SweetJimmyC losing his gig with the BC Lions. He is the best PR/Commuications person across the CFL. His phone should be ringing immediately with offers.

A graduate of Grant McEwan College in Edmonton, Cartmell spent two years as a speech writer for Edmonton City Council before entering the CFL. Cartmell was fortunate enough to enjoy five visits to the Grey Cup during his time in the CFL, earning four championship rings along the way.
Just wanna give a shoutout to @SweetJimmyC for all his dedication to the #BCLions & @cfl. You set the standard my friend & I thank you for all the help youve given me since landing in BC. You understood the importance of relationships & accessibility. Best of luck! @CFLonTSN
