Canadian RB Chuba Hubbard named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year

Oklahoma State running back Chuba Hubbard was named the 2019 Big 12 Offensive Player of Year.

Hubbard, who is also a finalist for the 2019 Doak Walker Award and a candidate for the Heisman Trophy, is the seventh conference offensive player of the year winner in OSU history, joining Terry Miller (1976 and 1977), Thurman Thomas (1985 and 1987), Barry Sanders (1988) and Justin Blackmon (2010).

The all-conference first team includes Hubbard, whose recognition marks the third-consecutive year an OSU running back has been included on the first team. Hubbard was one of just three total players to be unanimously selected to the first team.

Selections for conference individual awards and all-conference teams are made by the league’s 10 head coaches, who are not permitted to vote for their own players.

The Edmonton, Alberta native leads all NCAA Division I running backs with 1,936 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground in 12 games averaging 6.3 yards per carry with 10 straight performances of 100 yards or more. Hubbard topped the FBS in rushing yards, rushing yards per game, yards after contact (via Pro Football Focus), all-purpose yards, all-purpose yards per game and rushes of at least 20, 30. 40, 50, 60, 70, 80 and 90 yards.

Hubbard has put together one of the most spectacular season by a Canadian in the NCAA and the accolades are just starting to come in.
