The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed defensive back Loucheiz Purifoy to a two-year contract extension.

Purifoy started all 18 games for Saskatchewan in 2019, recording 40 tackles, three interceptions, two sacks, and one forced fumble. The 26-year-old is also an underrated return specialist, bringing back 49 kickoffs for an impressive 24.5-yard average and led the league in kickoff return yards with 1,201 yards and a touchdown.

The Florida product was released by the Ottawa Redblacks in August of 2018 but found a new home with the Riders just one day later. He has since become a staple in the team’s secondary, primarily filling in at field-side halfback.
