Another former Calgary Stampeders’ defender has made his NFL debut.
James Vaughters dressed for the Chicago Bears Sunday after joining the club’s practice roster last week. He recorded one defensive tackle in a 22-14 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Stanford product was a popular pick to make the Bears’ active roster following a strong preseason, but was cut at the end of training camp. Vaughters was recently selected fifth overall by the DC Defenders in the defensive front-seven portion of the XFL draft.
Today’s CFL news in your inbox every afternoon.
The 26-year-old recorded 50 tackles and 11 sacks in 33 games with the Stampeders over the past two years, winning a Grey Cup last year.
Vaughters joins Samuel Eguavoen, Diontae Spencer, Duke Williams, Tevaughn Campbell, and Alex Singleton as active NFL players who were in the CFL in 2018.
