Lions QB Mike Reilly thought his left wrist is broken, which was right

Mike Reilly was the last healthy starting quarterback until Saturday, October 12 in 2019 — let the record show.

Reilly was crunched by two Edmonton Eskimos defenders, driven to the turf by linebacker Jovan Santos-Knox. He was in a lot of pain favoring his left wrist. TSN mics picked up the veteran QB saying: “I think it’s broken.”

Reilly had started every regular season game (16) so far in 2019. The 34-year-old has passed for 3,891 yards, 20 touchdowns against 15 interceptions while completing just under 70 percent of his attempts.

The Lions paid $2.9 million over four years — $725,000 per season — for Reilly to sign on the dotted line in February. That made the 34-year-old the highest-paid player in the league. Backup Danny O’Brien came in for B.C., but Reilly’s season — and the Lions — could be over.
