The Toronto Argonauts are starting McLeod Bethel-Thompson at quarterback against the Ottawa Redblacks in Week 18.

Bethel-Thompson has posted a 2-8 win-loss record while throwing for 3,184 yards, 20 touchdowns versus 12 interceptions and completing 66 percent of his attempts in 13 games so far.

James Franklin began the season as the No. 1 QB for the Argos and he was victim to an all-around poor team start as the boatmen went 0-2. Franklin started the last two games for Toronto, both losses including a 41-16 defeat to Saskatchewan and 55-8 blowout in B.C. During six games in 2019, the 28-year-old has passed for 822 yards with three touchdowns against six interceptions while rushing 14 times for 79 yards and one touchdown.

Toronto’s offence has produced just 264 points, the second-lowest total in the entire league (the Redblacks are last at 238.) The Argos are 2-12 which is the worst record in the CFL. Bethel-Thompson and Franklin remain as the only pivots on Toronto’s roster with experience in the three-down game after Zach Collaros was traded to Winnipeg at the deadline.
