Eskimos place QB Trevor Harris on six-game injured list

The Edmonton Eskimos have placed quarterback Trevor Harris on the six-game injured list.

That means Harris will miss his return trip to Ottawa, the Eskimos play the Redblacks on Saturday afternoon in the nation’s capital.

Harris did take some reps with the first-team offence at practice through the week, but Logan Kilgore had the majority of snaps behind centre and starts again at QB. The prized off-season acquisition left the Eskimos Week 13 loss against Calgary with an injury to his right throwing arm.

Harris leads the league in passing yards with 3,706 to go along with a sparkling 15-4 touchdown to interception ratio in his first season as an Eskimo. The 33-year-old signed a two-year contract worth $1.1 million with Edmonton during free agency, leaving Ottawa following a contract disagreement with Redblacks general manager Marcel Desjardins.

Edmonton has lost four straight games and sit 6-7 fourth place in the West Division. By placing Harris on the longer term injured list it’s a sign the issue could be worse than originally thought.
