Redblacks’ DB Antoine Pruneau could ‘possibly’ miss the rest of the season

The Redblacks could be without Canadian defensive back Antoine Pruneau for the remainder of 2019.

Pruneau injured his right leg against the Toronto Argonauts and general manager Marcel Desjardins told Martin Comtois his season might ‘possibly’ be over.

It’s been a difficult year for Pruneau and injuries. He had a cast on his hand left hand and arm following a setback sustained against the Montreal Alouettes in Week 5.

The 29-year-old ratio-breaking defender has spent all six of his CFL seasons in Ottawa after the Redblacks chose him in the first round, fourth overall during the 2014 CFL draft. Through 92 games, Pruneau’s recorded 316 tackles, 56 special teams stops, nine interceptions, four sacks, four forced fumbles and scored one touchdown.

He’s played in eight games making 23 tackles, two special teams stops, forcing one fumble and intercepting one pass season to date. Losing Pruneau would be a blow to Ottawa’s struggling defence.
