The Ottawa Redblacks have named Jonathon Jennings their starting quarterback.

Jennings entered Ottawa’s Week 11 game, a 40-18 loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders, and finished 16-of-26 for 208 yards with one touchdown while avoiding any turnovers.

His special deep ball ability was on display when he spotted a perfect throw to Dominique Rhymes in stride for a 75-yard touchdown.

The 27-year-old started in place of an injured Dominque Davis against Winnipeg in Week 6 and Calgary during Week 7.

For his first outing Jennings completed 6-of-15 passes for 45 yards and one interception which was returned for a touchdown in a 31-1 defeat. Versus the Stampeders, Jennings hit on 15-of-18 attempts for 125 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in a 17-16 loss.

Jennings is 0-2 as a starter with the Redblacks. Davis has a 3-5 record as Ottawa’s No. 1 QB. He leads the CFL in interceptions with 14, a large reason why the switch was made.

It should be an easier matchup for Ottawa’s offence going against Toronto in Week 13 who has allowed a league-worst 348 points.
