One of the CFL’s most exciting young players could be out for a while.

Sean Thomas-Erlington has suffered a knee injury and will be placed on the six-game injured list according to Ticats head coach Orlondo Steinauer.

The third-year player was putting up extraordinary numbers this season, recording 33 carries for 224 yards and 11 receptions for 193 yards and a touchdown. He remains the league’s sixth-leading rusher and fifteenth-ranked receiver despite missing most of last week’s game at Percival Molson Stadium.

Thomas-Erlington was carried off the field during Thursday’s game against the Montreal Alouettes. The former eighth-round pick became the Ticats’ starting running back after a strong training camp.

Look for national ball carriers Anthony Coombs, Jackson Bennett, and Maleek Irons to pick-up the slack in Hamilton as Thomas-Erlington recovers from injury.
