Stampeders QB Bo Levi Mitchell won’t play against the Riders

Stampeders quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell won’t play against the Riders on Saturday.

Mitchell underwent an MRI Tuesday to determine the extent of an upper body setback suffered against B.C. in Week 3. He left the game against the Lions late in the fourth quarter favouring his right arm, chest and shoulder area.

The Stampeders franchise quarterback wanted a second opinion on his pectoral muscle upon hearing the first opinion, so he elected to seek that assessment from Neal ElAttrache who works primarily out of Los Angeles. ElAttrache performed Tom Brady’s ACL surgery in 2008 and multiple operations on five-time NBA champion Kobe Bryant.

Mitchell played the majority of the 2017 season with tears in his throwing shoulder and elbow issues. That year he managed to throw for 4,700 yards, 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while leading Calgary to the best record in the CFL at 13-4-1 despite the ailments.

The two-time Grey Cup champion is officially on the sidelines for Calgary and been given the week-to-week injury designation.
