Mitchell was scheduled to undergo an MRI Tuesday to determine the extent of an upper body setback suffered against B.C. on Saturday night. He left the game against the Lions late in the fourth quarter favouring his right arm, chest and shoulder area.
The 29-year-old said it’s not his shoulder rather a pectoral muscle injury, which happened while he was trying to stop his throwing motion.
Backup quarterback Nick Arbuckle entered in the fourth quarter for Mitchell and led two touchdowns drives while completing 9-of-9 passes for 93 yards and one major through the air, guiding the Stampeders to an improbable comeback victory during Week 3.
Mitchell took the field with the Stamps for practice on Tuesday, but just as a spectator. Arbuckle worked with the starting offence. The reigning CFL MOP was at Calgary’s practice on Wednesday, but did not participate.
