Riders work out, sign former NFL OL Cameron Jefferson

The Saskatchewan Roughriders worked out and signed former NFL offensive lineman Cameron Jefferson.

The 27-year-old started 33 games at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas prior to transferring to the University of Arkansas for his senior season in 2014.

Jefferson went unselected in the 2015 NFL draft, but signed an undrafted free agent contract with Chicago. The Bears released him after training camp and since then he’s had stints with the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins.

The six-foot-five, 317-pound Jefferson is in shape and should help the Riders at tackle. Takoby Cofield started at left tackle and Thaddeus Coleman right tackle for Saskatchewan in their first two games of the season. Terran Vaughn was the backup tackle during Week 1, but he’s currently on the one-game injured list.

Jefferson becomes the only other American tackle type on the Riders roster.
