Ottawa redblacks defensive back Jonathan Rose has agreed to pay a fine as part of a settlement of his grievance against the CFL.

The grievance challenged the league’s decision to suspend him after he made contact with an official during last year’s Eastern Final in Ottawa.

Rose was handed a one-game suspension for pushing an official during Ottawa’s East final win against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The 2018 CFL East Division all-star was flagged for unnecessary roughness and ejected for contacting an official with 37 seconds left in the first half following a sideline melee after a Ticats reception.

The 25-year-old immediately appealed his suspension and played in the Redblacks loss to Calgary in the Grey Cup, recording three tackles and one interception. The final ruling has cost Rose some money, but not game action.
