Longtime Montreal defender Chip Cox would love to play for the Alouettes, according to Herb Zurkowsky.
Long overdue, but I reached out to free-agent LB Chip Cox last night. While he heard from #AlsMTL GM @Kavis_Reed, no offer was ever made. Indeed, Cox has not heard from any other GM but would love to play for Montreal, his only #CFL home.

The 35-year-old remains on the open market after playing in 16 games making 78 tackles, five sacks and forcing three fumbles last season.
Cox has spent 13 seasons in the CFL, all with the Alouettes. He has registered 926 tackles, 93 more on special teams, 32 sacks, 28 forced fumbles, 23 interceptions and six defensive touchdowns in 228 career games.
2013 was the most productive season for Cox posting 103 tackles, 12 sacks and four interceptions earning the CFL’s Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award for those efforts. Three times the Columbus, Ohio native has been named a CFL all-star. Cox has won two Grey Cups (2009 and 2010) with the Alouettes.
It appears the end could be near for Cox’s days on the football field.
