The Toronto native spent time with TSN as a broadcaster in 2015 and was excellent.
Benevides had been the Edmonton Eskimos assistant head coach and defensive co-ordinator since Jason Maas took over as Esks head coach in 2016. That was until Edmonton let the 50-year-old go due to the football operations cap after the 2018 season.
Prior to joining the Eskimos, Benevides spent three seasons as head coach of the B.C. Lions (2012-14), compiling a 33-21 win-loss record. He has a mostly defensive background with time spent as a special teams coordinator as well. Benevides has three Grey Cup rings as a coach.
Benevides does a nice job of explaining football to the viewers in an easily understandable way.
