Former Calgary Stampeders linebacker Alex Singleton may have departed for the NFL but he still had one more big hit to deliver on the CFL.
Singleton, who signed with the Philadelphia Eagles in January, chirped the league after they sent out a Tweet promoting the economic benefits of last season’s Grey Cup in Edmonton.

You may recall that the turf at Commonwealth Stadium was clearly a factor in last year’s championship game with players slipping all over the place. Singleton’s Stamps may have won 27-16 but the quality of play was significantly diminished and the league got roasted on social media.

The league didn’t cover the field during the week and fluctuating temperatures in the Alberta capital ultimately led to the surface freezing on game day. The CFL said afterwards that it would “sit down with manufacturers and stadium operations staff this off-season to explore what else could possibly be done in the future to improve the playing surface in such conditions.”
