While Flynn played for SMU he was a dynamic and ultra productive quarterback. Still to the present day Flynn holds the CIAU-CIS-USports mark for most touchdown passes in a career with 87 – no other passer has reached 80. Through four seasons in Halifax, Flynn recorded 7,292 passing yards and led the Huskies to two Vanier Cup games.

The most impressive feat was Flynn becoming and remaining the only player in history to win the Hec Crighton Trophy three times. In 2011, Flynn became the first Canadian university player to ever be inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
