The top-ranked prospect in this year’s CFL draft is officially NFL-bound.

Laval defensive end Mathieu Betts has been signed to an undrafted free agent NFL contract by the Chicago Bears.

Betts had an excellent pro day and made the most of his trip to the East-West Shrine Game in January, meeting with over half of the NFL’s teams. ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay said Betts would be a late-round pick before the draft started on Thursday.

Betts recorded 35.5 sacks in 33 games with the Rouge et Or. He still has room to develop his six-foot-three, 253-pound frame as he reaches the professional ranks.
