Laurier DL Robbie Smith accepts mini-camp invite from New York Giants

Wilfrid Laurier defensive end Robbie Smith has accepted a mini-camp invite with the New York Giants.

Smith performed well at this year’s CFL national combine, recording 23 bench press reps and a 4.78 forty-yard dash at six-foot-two and 242 pounds.

NFL teams have taken a notice of Smith partly due to the success of former university teammate and current Edmonton Eskimo Kwaku Boateng. The two are similar in stature and produced similarly at Laurier, though Smith’s produced better overall testing numbers.
