Hawkshaw was part of the interleauge development program which began in 2016 and aimed to improve officiating in both leagues through additional training and on-field experience through mini camps, training camps and pre-season games. After rating highly, Hawkshaw earned the opportunity.
The Kamloops, B.C. native has spent 14 seasons in the CFL officiating 189 games, including three Grey Cups.
