Canadian DB Matt Black ends playing career, begins scouting for Argos

Canadian defensive back Matt Black has retired from the CFL after 10 seasons.

Black played his entire career in double blue with the Toronto Argonauts and upon hanging up the cleats has accepted a role in the Argos front office in a football relations and player relations capacity.

The born and raised Toronto product won two Grey Cup with Toronto in 2012 and 2017, the second CFL title Black made the game-clinching interception to secure victory for the Argos.

Black played 127 games making 153 tackles, 83 special teams stops, three interceptions, three sacks, two forced fumbles and scored two defensive touchdowns. The-34-year-old will use that playing experience as a base for the football operations role.
