Riders officially announce Craig Dickenson head coach

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have announced Craig Dickenson as head coach.

3DownNation insider Justin Dunk first reported the news.

Jeremy O’Day was hired as general manager last Friday and decided on Dickenson in a week’s time.

“I am excited and honoured to announce Craig Dickenson as the Riders head coach,” O’Day said in a statement. “Craig is extremely respected by our players and staff. His dedication, intelligence and leadership will be an integral part of our future success.”

Dickenson will retain special teams coordinating duties as well.

“I want to thank Jeremy O’Day and the Saskatchewan Roughriders for giving me this great opportunity,” Dickenson said in a statement. “It is a great honour to be the head coach of this storied franchise. I look forward to working with this talented group of players and coaches moving forward.”

Dickenson takes over for Chris Jones who served as head coach for three seasons in Saskatchewan before leaving for the Cleveland Browns.
