Bombers talking extension with head coach Mike O’Shea

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have begun discussions on an extension for head coach Mike O’Shea, according to Sportsnet’s Arash Madani, whose current pact runs through the 2019 season.

O’Shea signed a three-year extension with Winnipeg following the 2016 season.

The 48-year-old has guided the Bombers to the playoff three straight years going 33-21 over that span. Since becoming the bench boss in the Manitoba capital, O’Shea has compiled a 45-45 regular season record and 1-3 in the post-season.

O’Shea along with the Canadian Mafia of general manager Kyle Walters and president Wade Miller took over a Bombers team that went a league-worst 3-15 in 2013 and have turned the Winnipeg football club into a consistent winner.

Considering the state the franchise was in when O’Shea arrived, the extension has been well earned.
