Riders denied permission to interview Redblacks’ Elizondo for head coach job

The Saskatchewan Roughriders request to interview Ottawa Redblacks offensive coordinator Jamie Elizondo for the green and white’s head coach job has been denied.

The @sskroughriders requested to interview Ottawa OC Jamie Elizondo for vacant HC position but permission denied. Elizondo previously interviewed for openings in B.C. and Tor in December, so issue appears to have been the calendar. #CFL #Riders

Elizondo has been Ottawa’s playcaller for three seasons, helping the Redblacks win the Grey Cup in 2016.

Elizondo came to Ottawa after time with the Toronto Argos as a receivers and quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. Elizondo spent the 2008 season as a receivers coach and special teams assistant in Montreal with the Alouettes.
