Lions general manager Ed Hervey questioned the work ethic of quarterback Jennings and explained his reasoning in October. That signaled 2018 would be the last for Jennings in Lions colours.
Jennings broke into the CFL with the Lions in 2015. He produced a career-best season in 2016 throwing for 5,226 yards and 27 touchdowns. But regressed in 2016 with 3,639 yards with 16 touchdowns against 19 interceptions.
When Hervey took over as GM he negotiated a pay cut with Jennings prior to the 2018 season which saw the 26-year-old usurped as the starter by veteran Travis Lulay.
