Buono expects Lions QB Lulay will be back playing in 2018

B.C. Lions quarterback Travis Lulay was injured on the team’s first offensive series against Montreal.

He was hit by veteran Montreal Alouettes’ defensive end John Bowman and lay on the turf in obvious discomfort before leaving the field with his left arm immobilized by a member of the training staff. But head coach Wally Buono feels his veteran passer’s season isn’t over.

Lula has an injury history that’s well documented, including shoulder issues, a torn knee ligament and a headshot that drove him from the game two weeks ago against Ottawa.

Jon Jennings, who came on to help guide the Lions to a 32-14 win in Montreal, will start in Lulay’s place while he recovers and B.C. tries to make the playoffs.
